“In the beginning” is about our beginning, not God’s. But what did he do before “in the beginning?” Well, we know the creation of God’s home, heaven, pre-existed earth with its throne room and books and angelic beings. But other than that, we have no idea what God did before “in the beginning.” That’s because the bible is no the story of everything that ever was and will be, it is the story of our relationship with a God who is unlike any other.
In Isaiah 43:10-11 God tells us “…before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord: and beside me there is no savior.”
In Hebrews 11:3 (Complete Jewish Bible) we are told “By trusting (faith), we understand that the universe was created through a spoken word of God, so that what is seen did not come into being out of existing phenomenon.”
Job tells us “He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.”
Jesus once told his detractors that they were mistaken in their theology because they did not know the scriptures and “…you do not know the power of God!”
Don’t underestimate God’s power over the world and in your life. There is nothing he cannot do!
